LINZ, Austria (AP) — Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic reached her first final of the season after beating Mihaela Buzarnescu of Romania 6-3, 7-6 (3) at the Ladies Linz on Saturday.
The 26th-ranked Strycova will play either top-seeded Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia or Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland in Sunday’s final.
Strycova, who is seeded second at the Austrian indoor event, will be aiming for her second career WTA title, six years after winning in Quebec City.
Strycova built on an early 3-0 lead to clinch the opening set against Buzarnescu and also went a break up in the second. She lost her serve at 3-2 but closed out the win on her first match point in the tiebreaker.
