Indiana Pacers forward Paul George has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for kicking a ball that inadvertantly hit a team employee in the face during Saturday’s win over the Chicago Bulls, the league announced Tuesday.

George, who was ejected for the first time in his career for the incident, immediately went over and apologized to the woman — later identified by the Indianapolis Star as Fox Sports Indiana employee Lindsey Yeager — and sent her flowers and a note.

“I meant to kick the ball against the mat, the stanchion” George said after the game. “My soccer skills isn’t as good as I thought. I apologized to the beautiful girl I hit. I’m glad my team was able to pick up this win and me not be at fault for this loss”
