GANGNEUNG, South Korea — When the U.S. won the women’s hockey Olympic gold medal in 1998, who could have guessed it would play a role in the first Olympic hockey goal scored by a unified Korean team in 2018.

Randi Heesoo Griffin was a 10-year-old figure skater in North Carolina when the Americans stood on the podium — the first Olympic gold awarded in women’s ice hockey.
