Yeah, this is cool.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame exclusively released rare audio from Vince Lombardi’s Super Bowl I press conference on Monday, and it’s all worth a listen.
The Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10, at the first Super Bowl back in 1967. The NFL came across the only remaining audio from CBS’ postgame coverage after meeting a former production manager for WAKR-TV in Akron, Ohio.
The way Lombardi interacted with the media in that press conference stood out above everything else. Times have certainly changed from a media coverage standpoint. Imagine Bill Belichick going back and forth in a happy discussion with a reporter. That just doesn’t happen.
It was like a journey back in time.
