Fans of the Giants might have been hoping for some kind of leadership overhaul under the new head coach Ben McAdoo, but the team announced Tuesday that 12 assistant coaches from the former coach Tom Coughlin’s staff had been retained.
The rehirings were not a surprise, as the Giants have been preaching continuity for years, but it will not go unnoticed around the N.F.L. that the Giants’ three coordinators are holdovers from last year. Steve Spagnuolo will be the defensive coordinator; Tom Quinn will remain as special-teams coordinator; and Mike Sullivan, last season’s quarterbacks coach, will be the offensive coordinator.
McAdoo was last season’s offensive coordinator under Coughlin, and he will continue to design the Giants’ offense and may also call the plays during games.
